Why Brass

We love the fact that brass is 100% recyclable, it is the perfect substrate of achieving all the finishes. It is easily machined and customizable. It can be cast, forged and engineered.

Product Care

A regular wash with a solution made up of two litres of water quarter to a cup of vinegar and a dash of dishwashing detergent.  Clean with a cloth, rinse with fresh water and use a chamois to finish off.

This regime will guarantee your exterior hardware will stay looking good no matter which finish, raw, unlacquered brass, bronze and any electroplated finish.

Is Brass Antimicrobial

Copper certainly is, and our brass products are 60% copper, the antibacterial property is active though not quite at the rate of raw copper.

What Is An Aged Finish

Often referred to as living finishes, it is a forced patternation. The copper content of the Brass (60% copper, 40% Zinc) the copper content of the brass reacts to a formulation of selenium and the aging is a response to the ‘attack.’

Finishes And Wait Times

From our Signature Series, polished brass unlacquered is the default finish. Custom finishes come at an additional cost and timeframe, aged brass and brushed finishes can be done in 1-2 days.

Our other 20 custom finishes can be achieved in a 4 week turn around.

Please note that Sun Valley Bronze has a 22 week wait time. Other international brands are 6-8 weeks for most.

Euro or Traditional Locks

Modern locks, employing a cylinder (Euro style or oval), have their uses and limitations. Likewise, the traditional locks that use a ‘skeleton’ key have their place in residential architecture.

The limitation with Euro locks is the aesthetics of the bulkiness of the cylinder, however, we would always recommend the euro lock system for entry doors.

Jacksons Lock's is an Australian company producing Euro locks, traditional locks and latches with high-grade materials that can be repaired and modified, we particularly like the solid brass face plates that can be matched to selected finishes. We can also modify tensions that affect performance.
